Open a PDF from Drive with Open with
- 1Find the PDF in Google Drive on a computer. Right-click it.
- 2Choose Open with, then PDkef. If PDkef is not in that list yet, use the file picker in the next section, which works for everyone.
- 3Tap Continue with Google. PDkef asks Google for access to this one file only, not the rest of your Drive. Google shows you what it is asking for.
- 4Choose what to do with it. Sign it, redact it, highlight it or compress it. The PDF opens in that tool, ready to work on.
The PDF is fetched from Drive straight to your device and is not sent anywhere else. PDkef never sees your Google password, and it does not keep a sign-in: every time you open a file this way, you tap Continue with Google again.
Pick the file from Drive in the file picker
- 1Open any PDkef tool and tap Choose files. Your device shows its own file picker, the same one other apps use.
- 2On Android, pick Google Drive from the list next to Downloads, then choose the PDF.
- 3On iPhone or iPad, tap Browse. Your Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud Drive appears in the list once its app is installed.
- 4On a Mac or Windows PC, use the Drive desktop app. Its folder shows up in the file picker like any other folder.
This way PDkef never connects to Google at all. Your device's picker does the fetching, and PDkef only receives the file you chose.
What stays on your device
Open with is a convenience, not a requirement. Everything in PDkef works without ever touching Google. The one page that talks to Google is /drive/, where Open with lands; every other page loads nothing from Google. The privacy page has the whole picture.
Once the PDF is open, the work happens in your browser like any other file. The finished PDF is yours to download, then add back to Drive yourself if you want it there.
